Katy Vigeland

Biography

Katy Vigeland grew up in Salem, Oregon. After receiving a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Oregon, she stayed connected to the visual arts by working or volunteering at various non-profit art organizations in Oregon, Hawaii and California.  From 1994 - 2020 Katy co-owned and operated Salem’s fine art supply store, Art Department. The store recently sold which now gives her the opportunity to concentrate more on her own art. Currently she works in a variety of mediums including acrylic, collage, watercolor, gouache, ink and dry media.  Her work ranges from  non-representational art, abstracted landscapes, to more realistic subject matter. Katy is also one of the founders of a monthly sketching group, Salem Sketchers and teaches classes in how to sketch for fun with confidence. She is currently working in number 45 of her own sketchbook. She is in private collections and has been selected for numerous projects and exhibits including Community Supported Arts&Culture, and The Collaborative Body: Here and Now. Her work is available at Bush Barn Art Center in Salem, River Gallery in Independence.
