Jim Hockenhull classifies himself simply as “an artist” as his works encompass sculpture, painting, graphics, and book design.
He holds a BFA and MFA in Sculpture. He has taught Art and Graphics at the university level. He was active in the early computer-art movement in the 1980s and served as Adjunct Lecturer with the Computer Science Department of Washington State University. He has practiced graphic design in print and video, has written historical articles for automotive magazines, and for a while was the American parts distributor for the Messerschmitt microcar.
Jim is also an accomplished fiddler with a passion for authentic old-time and Cajun music. He is the 2009 Senior Champion of the Oregon Old-Time Fiddlers, an award he also won in 2006 and 2007. Born and raised in Illinois, his life has led him progressively westward. He now lives and works with his wife, Jo, near Sheridan, Oregon.
