Biography
I have been woodturning since 2011. I was fortunate to join the Cascade Woodturners club in Portland and enjoyed mentorship from some very knowledgeable and friendly folks. I moved to Salem in 2017 and joined the Willamette Valley Woodturners and have progressed to where i am mentoring others. This local club has Sawdust Sessions where members can get hands on teaching. It is part of the Association of American Woodturners and has chapters like ours all over the nation.
I like to think I bring a sense of art to the everyday objects I like to make. So, most things I make are useful and attractive. It's good when the function of a bowl has embellishments or technical features and holds whatever the stuff the owner needs in a way that brings a sense of appreciation just to look at it. That's what I am after.
While I feel comfortable making lots of usable things, there is a wider world of intensely technical things that I venture toward and may be able to accomplish someday. There is always a new challenge out there.
