It is hard for me to say I make art. It's easier to say I'm curious. I like small, quirky things. I love containers of almost every kind. Wonderfully, just being myself and doing what I consider fun (finding odd objects, pouring over images, arranging, cutting, gluing) I am a happy participant in something making itself.
My work is a constant orbit around the themes of sacred space and the indescribable, but irrefutable quality that infuses in all things. I am fascinated by the divine: where and how it may be approached, summoned, and contained.
Sometimes I know what I want a piece to portray, for instance friendship, comfort, wonder, and I pull items together to express that idea. More often I have no idea more than arranging and rearranging whatever items are catching my attention until the piece itself seems to say "Done." However a piece begins, I see the final form as a shrine that simultaneously captures and releases an essence that is both perfectly ordinary and impenetrably divine.
Ultimately, I see each piece as magical. May they call up some magic in you.
