I am a largely self-taught sculptor, painter and printmaker who came to art relatively late in life. My early education, training and life work was all in science and I labored under the false premise that art and science don't mix. In my mid-forties I was encouraged my life partner Tod to explore my long suppressed interest in sculpture. I pursued this strictly as a hobby until approached by Ann Durley and Anna Mallard in 1998 to join with a group of artists opening a holiday store in Independence. Ten years later, this store has endured as the River Gallery and through my association with the River Gallery artists I have expanded my art interests and skill into watercolor painting and wood block printing. While I occasionally foray into other subject areas my passion started with and remains the human male body.
